However, the most relevant works belonged to Francisco Manuel Trigoso de Aragão Morato (1777-1838), who studied at the Colégio dos Nobres before entering the University of Coimbra to complete his degree in Canon Law (1799). In the period prior to the revolution, he was a professor at the University of Coimbra, a member of the ARCL, and was elected deputy to the Extraordinary and Constituent Cortes of the Portuguese Nation and appointed Peer of the Realm (1834). As vice-president of the ARCL, he wrote Memória sobre os Chancelleres Mores dos Reis de Portugal (Memoir on the Chancellors of the Kings of Portugal), considered the first ministers of the dispatch and proceedings of our sovereigns (1837), in which he recounts the emergence of the office (D. Afonso Henriques) and compares it with others in the Royal House in the time of D. Afonso II and D. Dinis as the scribes of purity who would compete with the power of the chancellors-mores. It would be with D. João III that the jurisdiction of the chancellors passed to the Desembargo do Paço and to the Judge of the Chancellery of the Casa da Suplicação , while the Escrivães da Puridade monopolised assistance to the royal dispatch. It then addresses the emergence of the secretaries of the King and the Secretaries of State, a topic that will be continued in other works, one relating to the Memória sobre os Secretários dos Reis e Regentes de Portugal desde os antigos tempos da Monarquia até à aclamação de elKing John IV, and another on the Memoir on the Clerks of Purity of the Kings of Portugal, and what belongs to this office (1835). Following complaints to the Cortes about the Mesa da Consciência e Ordens (Table of Conscience and Orders), he presented a project for its abolition (1822) accompanied by a Memória sobre a origem da Mesa e a demonstração da sua in (Memoir on the origin of the Mesa and demonstration of its uselessness), which would later serve for its abolition (16 August 1833). Also noteworthy is José António de Sá ( 17?/ 1819) with his study Sobre a origem e jurisdição dos corregedores das comarcas (On the origin and jurisdiction of district magistrates), 1806.
