The vitality and success of O Tripeiro can be attributed to a combination of factors: its invaluable archive, the intellectual and epistemological diversity of its contributors, its accessible language that appealed to various social segments, the thematic and iconographic richness of the subjects explored, and the fruitful dialogue of experiences and knowledge between editors, authors, and readers. Given its many unique traits, it is not easy to pinpoint a single historiographical focus in a periodical that did not necessarily promote one. Across hundreds of issues, the themes and issues discussed were almost always framed within the context of local and regional history: the founding of nationality, the rise of the mercantile bourgeoisie, maritime expansion, the Philippine era, the liberal movement, and industrial development in the 19th century, among others. Authors were given complete freedom in their approaches, research lines, and conclusions, without necessarily provoking major debates or forceful analyses. Moreover, no formal collaborative links were established with the two Faculdades de Letras in Porto, which had their own journals dedicated to historical sciences, though some articles were occasionally contributed by faculty and students. There appeared to be more synergies through the Centro de Estudos Humanísticos , particularly through research seminars in its Estudos Portuenses [Porto Studies] course. Remarkable and unique for its editorial mission and private initiative, the relevance of O Tripeiro is encapsulated in a 1928 circular: " O Tripeiro is the Bible of the people of Porto, the guiding thread from the present era to the most distant past, revealing teachings that are always useful."
